A Dysfunctional Family of Five Reviews...Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban!

If you're under 13 and reading this review, for Mel's sake don't look at any of the other reviews posted by the DFOF this year - we just can't guarantee your emotional safety. As for this review...well, maybe you'd better wait until you turn 14, at least.

Dad: Hey, I thought this was an Alfonso Cuaron movie. How come the kids aren't getting it on like they did in Y Tu Mama Tambien? They've got the same love triangle thing going...

Mom: Damnit, it wasn't funny the first twelve times you tried to tell me that joke, and you and your perverted Harry Potter "adult fan fiction" are going to get us into trouble.

Sis: Omigod, when did Daniel Radcliffe turn into such a hottie?! I wish I was Muslim, so I could wear one of those burk-thingies and people wouldn't see me acting like a freak!

Baby: What a difference a new director makes! Chris Columbus did a decent job, but Alfonso Cuaron is fantastic, and despite Tambien, he's got kid-movie cred - he made A Little Princess back in 1995. Maybe Steve Kloves is maturing as a screenwriter, too. This is what a movie adaptation should be - faithful, but not reverential. And if the book is always better than the movie, then I'm going to get Hooked on Phonics so I can read it as soon as possible!

Verdict: Big screen, full price - catch it at an IMAX if there's one near you. Don't worry, it's worth it.
