Summary:

Stewart is a master when it comes to using his facial muscles, arranging the components of his countenance like a symphony. And Stewart, charged up for his first night, let the muscles fly! The gaping mouth! The bulged eyes! The shocked eyebrows! Yes, they were all on display tonight, and boy did they look good, baby.

But perhaps Stewart was a little TOO charged up. A man who employs physical comedy in his anchor routine needs a hair spray that surpasses all others in its fortitude. Stewart did not use that hair spray tonight. Stray locks could be seen struggling away from the pack, straining to reach his temples. But as always, he was nattily attired, and wore a better suit than his guest, New Mexico Governor and Convention Chair Bill Richardson.

And as for the Laugh Quotient - wow! The number speaks for itself!

On the Minion Matrix, Helms and Bee ranked so low because they only made cameo appearances. We expect to see more from them tomorrow night.

All in all, a fiery beginning for The Daily Show's team coverage of the Democratic National Convention.
