A Dysfunctional Family of Five Reviews...The Grudge!

In honor of this year's inevitable end-of-October fright-night flick, the Family has offered to share their scariest personal anecdotes with you. (Anything's better than holding a candle up to this Grudge for closer inspection. Trust us!)

Dad: I nearly smudged my drawers when the cops pulled us over last Thanksgiving and found Uncle Bernie passed out in our trunk. Thank goodness Edna had that hunch and called the police!

Mom: How about when we went to Hawaii, and that shark swam right past us, sooo slowly, like it was just hanging there, waiting for the right moment to gobble us all up!

Sis: Mom, that wasn't a real shark! That was him [pointing at Bro]! He had one of those lame fin-hats on, and a bright yellow snorkel! Gawd, you're so thick. I must be adopted. [Pause.] Hey - what's the question again?

Bro: Every single morning I see my sister roll out of bed is a horror to top all vile, ghoulish, squeamish horrors--OW! [Slapped by sis.]

Baby: Waking up in the middle of the night and forgetting who you are, why you're there, and what the name of your caretakers are in the first place - now THAT'S real terror. Especially when you find out you're locked in a cage with a stuffed 'possum, compliments of that fun-lovin' rascal, Uncle Bernie.

Verdict: Goosebumps, visuals, and some fresh stylistic choices might make it interesting for the discerning horror devotee. But if you're into actual STORY over creepy-freaky art house antics, bury this one way down on your rentals list.
