A Dysfunctional Family of Five Reviews...Lord of War!

Every time we hear that title, we keep hearing Tears for Fears' "Lord of Karma" in our heads. Which probably tells you something about us. Something we maybe don't like you to be thinking. Anyway, here's Nicolas Cage and the psycho Ethan Hawke (how do you give up Uma Thurman?!), in an Andrew Niccol film about a gun dealer.

Sis: I don't get it. Is this some of that satire crap everyone can't shut up about these days?

Mom: If it's a skilled satirist, you never have to ask, honey. You'll just know it. Just like good adult movies - you know when they've been made by women.

Bro: So, how much longer do I have to wait for my gun license, Dad?

Dad: The Founding Fathers didn't have gun licenses, did they? Just don't point it at the house, son. I'll be inside, watching movies with your mother. Boring old home movies of you in diapers. Really. Embarrassing ones. Stay outside.

Baby: I dig Andrew Niccol - he's always got something interesting to say. But he's better when someone else directs his writing. I think he's just too close to the material here. This from a baby who can't focus on anything more than two feet away, so I know what I'm talking about!

Verdict: It's better to see a movie that tries to say something than to see a completely commoditized movie, right? Right. Give it a matinee spin.
