Sex and the High School Girl (and Boy)
According to a recent government-sponsored survey, slightly more than half of all boys and girls, ages 15-19, have engaged in oral sex.
That leaves me with one burning question: Where the hell was this free talent when I was growing up? I was a child of the seventies, a supposed beneficiary of the “free love” generation, a time when “safe sex” meant no sharp objects near the waterbed. True I was a thin, shy kid with cannabis-impaired social skills, but even I managed to make out a handful of times in high school. Yet the closest I came to getting oral sex was when the neighbor’s Boxer shoved its nose up my crotch.
I didn’t even get my first blowjob until I was legally old enough to drink, and even then I had to pay a woman trolling the West Side of Manhattan $25 to do so while my best friend kept an eye out for the police. (I hope it was a woman - after watching several HBO documentaries, well, you never know…)
Another interesting statistic from the report is that nearly 11 percent of females 15-19 said they had some kind of sexual encounter with a female partner. The thought that when I was back in high school, lusting from afar for Gina B. and Cheryl L., that there was even a one in ten chance they may have gotten naked together - well I’m sorry, it’s just too much to bear. I may need a moment or two here.
But what really blows my mind is that by the time they’re 24, one in three women acknowledged they have had anal sex with a male. Anal sex? One in three? I must have been 20 before I even realized straight people had anal sex.
Bottom line? If any member of Gen Y, or the Millennials, or whatever the [expletive deleted] we’re calling high school kids now, ever, ever complains again about how harsh the world is these days, as far as I’m concerned they can blow me. After all, there’s a fifty-fifty chance they already know how.
