Bush's Liberia Quandary: How Can Halliburton Profit?
The Bush administration dragged its feet on a Liberian peacekeeping force because it can't figure out how it will profit so-called 'iron triangle' companies, according to classified National Security Council meeting transcripts. DeadBrain acquired the transcripts in a daring underground parking lot rendezvous with a high-level administration source.

Though appearing unresponsive by calls to intercede in Liberia by the other 5.7 billion people on the planet, Bush administration officials have been scrambling to figure out how to make an invasion profitable for companies such Halliburton and Bechtel while avoiding Congressional spending oversight. The following is a typical exchange:

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld: "Liberia doesn't have the resources to make it worth anyone's time. They've gotta have some holes in the ground. Big holes, small invasion force. Bedroom or battlefield, that's my motto."

Secretary of State Colin Powell: "What about their gold mines?"

President Bush: "No, we can't touch those. [Christian Coalition leader] Pat Robertson helped to build some of those mines, and we'll need every gold-laden Christian for the reelection campaign."

The term 'iron triangle,' aside from being a sexual euphemism used by Vice President Dick Cheney, refers to multinational corporations which profit from defense industry spending and high level government contacts and influence.

"That's what I call my wife when she won't come across," Cheney joked in one NSC meeting. National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice responded, "That's because she doesn't want you having another heart attack while you're bumping uglies."
