Schiavos Scheduled for Family FeudApr 6 2005 by JJ Jogolo
Family members from both sides of the Terri Schiavo saga have decided to take their real-life family feud to the Game Show Network's Family Feud show. Richard Dawson brings his British accent and puckered up lips back to referee this one time event, in a format that both sides agree should "prevent another death in the family!"Sparks fly and tempers get heated in this hour-long special. "It's more like an episode of Jerry Springer than Family Feud," commented Harold Paratesties, GSN cameraman. "I've never seen Dawson so completely frightened. Maybe it's because he's a really old dude now." What could possibly frighten a professional game show host so terribly? When you see this airing, you'll understand. The show required the entire audience go through an airport-type security checkpoint, to protect Terri's husband Mike Schiavo from an audience assassination. On stage were five armed guards and ten bouncers to attend to the family members, and while tensions did run high, the families never did actually come to throwing punches. Also atop the controversy list were the audience-polled questions for which the show is famous. One has to wonder what's happened to the sensitivity of television writers in this new millennium. Rather than the random, off the wall, type of questions viewers have forever associated with Family Feud, the questions took a more ominous personal tone. A few examples: Name the top 5 reasons to remove a feeding tube. In days, how long does it take to starve to death? Name the top five slang names given to brain-dead people. Name the elected or appointed official that should have saved Terri's life. GSN will air this hour-long episode of Family Feud on Friday April 15th in a special 8:00pm primetime slot. GSN is billing this episode as the "best Family Feud ever," the most action packed, educational, sad, funny and anger inspiring episode to date. It even made TV Guide's top picks list.
