Bush May Become Cable Fishing Show Co-Host

Vote now!

In a decision that could reverberate around the world, President Bush is seriously considering dropping out of the presidential race to become full-time co-host of the Fishing with Roland Martin cable television show.

Executives at the Outdoor Life Network, which broadcasts the somewhat obscure show, were ecstatic about ratings and buzz generated by Bush's recent TV appearance with Martin.

As a result, OLN Chairman and CEO Sam Centrowitz offered Bush $1 million a year, plus a new boat and motor for each month his ratings are above CNN's Larry King Live and ESPN's World Series of Poker.

Sources also said Vice President Dick Cheney, who has urged Bush to take the job so he can become president, has offered Bush Halliburton stock options worth millions.

The only hang-up in negotiations appears to be billing for Bush in the show's title. Martin is adamant that he still wants his name to come first, which could lead to a protracted legal battle with Bush.

Bush said he's excited about the offer, adding "We could be bigger than Oprah, bigger than Regis and Kelly Lee, or whatever her name is.

"I love fishing, and sick and I'm tired of getting criticized for Saddam and Osama and Iraq and Iran and North Korea and no WMDs," Bush said. "I admit, I spend a lot of time on vacation. But I like the idea of getting paid $1 million for it. That's way more than I make as president, I think."

But First Lady Laura Bush was a little less enthusiastic, saying, "You know George. He finds something new and he's like a little kid. He couldn't let go of the Saddam-Osama-WMD thing, even when there was no link.

"He tried that stupid scooter, then fell off," Mrs. Bush continued. "He was a runner, then hurt his knee. He was riding mountain bikes, then fell a couple times. Now it's this fishing show.

"When will it ever end?" she asked. "Besides, I like living in the White House. We need to talk, and he better listen to me for once."
