Satire Guild President Gives Exclusive Coverage of the Democratic National Convention to DeadBrain.com Jul 26 2004 by Allen Voivod FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BOSTON – In an eleventh hour coup, DeadBrain.com secured the president of the International Satirists Guild (ISG) for daily coverage of the this week's Democratic National Convention. Douglass Ramssmullett, president of the trade coalition, had rejected offers to report on the DNC from myriad other news and entertainment outfits before finally agreeing to lend his coveted access and status to the popular US site. "This event is ripe for the satire picking," said the corpulent Norwegian, 53, from his hotel suite overlooking Boston's Fleet Center. "The best way to monitor the troublemakers is to deliver the premium fodder myself." Ramssmullett's decision came as a shock to industry insiders. A disproportionate number of past ISG presidents have been victimized by failed – and successful – assassination attempts. Covering the Convention not only jeopardizes Ramssmullett's safety, but could create new enemies from otherwise neutral factions. Additionally, Ramssmullett rarely strays far from his home in Oslo, Norway, where he delivers impromptu press conferences on the steps of the ISG Headquarters to unsuspecting audiences. In fact, this is his first time visiting the Americas. But his commitment to unleashing satire equally – especially at Democrats, who he feels have been satirically neglected during the Bush Administration – swayed Ramssmullett into taking the risk. This amounts to good news for DeadBrain.com, the US edition of its British counterpart.
